FAQ

If you could change your life with a 2-minute practice, 3 times a day, would you do it?

Do you find yourself...

➡️ Feeling like an imposter?

➡️ Procrastinating?

➡️ Judging yourself or others?

➡️ Trying to control people or situations?

➡️ Avoiding conversations that need to happen?

➡️ Feeling paralyzed with anxiety?

➡️ Saying yes when you wanted to say no?

Stressed and unhappy mind
Those are self-sabotaging parts of your mind at work
Stressed and unhappy mind

We all have them.

They trigger our primitive brain – the fight, flight, or flee response.

And all that stress makes us anxious, exhausted, and overwhelmed.

When we experience positive emotions like love, joy, empathy and compassion, we are in our sage brain - our true self. And we can learn to build up those sage powers to override the saboteur tendencies at work.

During the first wave of the pandemic in 2020, several members of the Thriving Talent team, enroled in the 7-week Positive Intelligence Mental Fitness programme for coaches.

And here’s what happened:

In less than two months our score – a numerical gauge of our mental fitness – went from 27 to 80 (on a scale of 0-100).

THIS PROGRAMME LITERALLY TRIPLED our happiness and resilience.

And guess what?

This happened in the middle of a global pandemic!

The Mental Fitness programme started the same week that the lockdown hit in March. The world was in chaos. People’s lives were being turned upside-down. And in the midst of all this, those of us in this course had committed to a daily practice of “reps” (mini mindfulness exercises in the Positive Intelligence app) and weekly lessons to help weaken our saboteurs and strengthen our sages.

We can’t think of a better time to have been immersed in this work.

We learned how to identify our self-sabotaging behaviours and strengthen our ability to turn adverse situations into a gift and opportunity.

It isn’t just some “look on the bright side” cliché.

It’s an evidence-based model rooted in neuroscience and brain development.

Our team of coaches have been certified by the top ranking coaching schools in the world and have over 10 years of experience coaching and supporting senior leaders, executives and teams using a variety of tools and models including Emotional Intelligence, human-centric leadership models to help clients build self-awareness and perform.

But Positive Intelligence feels like the operating system behind it all.

Positive Intelligence is a synthesis of recent breakthroughs in neuroscience, cognitive and positive psychology, and performance science validated by over half a million participants in 50 countries.

It is a measure of the strength of positive mental muscles (Sage) versus negative ones (Saboteurs).

Saboteurs react to challenges in ways that generate negative emotions such as stress, disappointment, self-doubt, regret, anger, shame, guilt or worry.

The Sage handles challenges through positive emotions like empathy, gratitude, curiosity, creativity, self-confidence and calm, clear-headed, laser-focused action.

The relative strength of the positive Sage versus the negative Saboteurs is called Positive Intelligence Quotient.

Mental Fitness is the X-factor!

During this 7-week programme you will strengthen 3 core muscles at the root of mental fitness:

SABOTEUR INTERCEPTOR

Build self-awareness of which of your internal saboteurs are triggered by stress

SELF-COMMAND

Practice 'Reps' to rise above your stressful thoughts and emotions

SAGE

Activate your sage perspective and superpowers

The 7-week programme consists of the following:

Week Content Learning Outcome
1 Boost your self-command muscle Practice 10-second 'Reps' that boost your self-command muscle. This enables you to run your brain rather than being run by your Saboteur-hijacked brain. Self-command is key to intercepting unhelpful mental habits and rewiring your brain to respond more effectively.
2 Intercept the Judge For this entire week, you’ll intercept and weaken the most damaging Saboteur, the Judge. You discover how judging yourself, others, and circumstances is a key source of your stress and quite damaging to your performance. Most participants discover their Judge to be far more prevalent and damaging than they suspected.
3 Accomplice Saboteurs This week you intercept and weaken the top accomplice to your Judge Saboteur, identified through the Saboteur Assessment from the following: Avoider, Controller, Hyper-Achiever, Hyper-Rational, Hyper-Vigilant, Pleaser, Restless, Stickler, Victim.
4 Shift to Sage After weakening your Saboteurs, it is now time to strengthen your Sage, the counterpart to your Saboteurs. Your Sage lives in an entirely different part of your brain, generates all your positive emotions, and achieves peak performance through a calm and clear mind.
5 Boost your Sage Powers The Sage region of the brain enables 5 primary powers. Analogous to the 3 primary colors, these 5 powers recombine to form all of the emotional intelligence competencies considered crucial to professional success.
6 Taking Action In our final week, you use your Sage’s Navigate and Activate powers to take clear-headed, laser-focused, decisive action.
7 Sustain the Momentum In this final week, you discover how to continue using the tools for a variety of work and life applications.

Positive Intelligence App

Gain access to an exclusive App guiding your daily practice

Each day a different focus for daily practice is assigned through a personalized companion app available exclusively to programme participants.

This builds one small muscle at a time, laying down new neural pathways to form lasting positive habits of your mind. The cumulative impact of the programme’s end is substantial.

The Gym inside the app provides you with different  reps and lengths to strengthen your Self-Command muscle throughout the day.

The app also tracks your daily progress against minimum targets associated with new neural pathway (muscle) formation. Personalized daily coaching tips from Shirzad continue to both encourage and challenge you to keep going and at the end of the day, you can capture your daily reflections.

All programme participants will continue to have access to the App for ab additional. 12-months after the end of the programme and will enjoy new content and video modules to maintain their mental fitness practice.

Accountability Pod

Research indicates that there is a 500% increased likelihood of establishing positive new habits when supported by accountability partners.

Every participant in the Mental Fitness programme is placed in a peer-support group called a Pod.

Pod members meet once a week to discuss the week's training. Pod members are also able to communicate privately with each other using the Community Channel inside the app. Each Pod is limited to 5 participants.

Pods meet virtually on Mondays or at a better time mutually agreed, with all Pod members having already watched the weekly video sessions and engaged with daily practice on the App.

Saboteur Assessment results example

Complete the Saboteur assessment using a personal email (that will not be blocked by organisation email filters) and then once you have the results, schedule a call with our team to diagnose your saboteurs and discuss how the Mental Fitness programme will best support your goals.

For organisations who wish to offer this training to multiple teams or departments, contact us directly to discuss customised formats and pricing.

Mental Fitness

vs.

Traditional Training

Focus on insight rather than muscle

For example, the insight that being frustrated isn’t helpful doesn’t automatically lead to you not feeling frustrated. That would require mental muscles to shift brain activation.

Treating symptoms rather than cause

For example, teaching you techniques of active listening to improve empathy will have a temporary impact if your deeply-rooted Judge Saboteur is not exposed and intercepted.

No common operating system

Since each training you attend uses a different framework—the 7 steps of managing conflict, the 5 secrets of managing time, etc.—the frameworks compete for mind share and all fade away.

Here's what previous participants are saying:

"I thought that with all the challenges in the last year it was a good time to do such a programme. I now see the positive in my life, my relationships, I say ‘no’ when necessary without the fear of not being liked." Viviane Le Dantec

"I was looking to improve my mental fitness and become more balanced in my emotional response to situations, events and people. I’ve improved my relationship with my mom, I have more patience and self-awareness so that I can see where I might be sabotaging a situation both at work and at home. I highly recommend the mental fitness program to anyone looking to improve their overall well-being." Lynn Kier

"I joined this programme in order to become more resilient against everyday stress and to feel more fulfilled. I learned how to let go more easily, celebrate the little things, feel calmer in my mind, and see an opportunity in every situation." Svetlana Golubnic

"I wanted to increase my mental wellness and bring more happiness into my life. I’ve learned to build my ‘bounce back’ power to setbacks, be more aware of saboteurs and find healthier ways to deal with them." Lori Palmer

"Before going through the Mental Fitness programme I felt a bit stressed out and disconnected from my team. My inner judge was very loud and blocked me from taking useful steps. After going through the programme I am much more relaxed knowing that things will evolve. I don't feel the urge to push constantly and I'm more patient with myself and others." Astrid Blunschi

"The Positive Intelligence Model is a brilliant breakthrough as it defines, measures and improves your awareness of your own performance and happiness. It also helps solve the mystery of why so many smart people still fail to be successful."

"This has been a transformational and long-lasting training, on a personal and professional level. I feel much more grounded, calmer, stronger, and better equipped to deal with the unexpected challenges of the day-to-day."

"All of my life I thought my high achievements were impossible without feeling constant stress. I've now learned to achieve even more with a calm and clear mind. I'm now enjoying every day, not just the final accomplishments."

"I wanted to understand what was 'blocking' my productivity and causing self-sabotaging behaviours. By the end of the programme, I restored my confidence and faith in myself. I am now more laid back, and this has helped me in many areas."

"This has been a profound growth experience. I now consistently feel joy and calm in the middle of handling the many challenges of running my team."

"I participated in the Mental Fitness programme because I wanted to be more resilient to the daily stresses of life and to look at challenges from a more positive perspective. Now I am much more aware of my judge and saboteurs. I am also able to recognize these behaviors in others. I think in general I am showing more compassion for 'difficult' people and taking their behavior a lot less personally." Stacy Cibula
